About Me

In April 2021, I gave up my career as a security consultant in order to train to become a funeral celebrant, to write and lead funerals. What brought about this change?

I attended several funerals listening and observing a Celebrant leading the ceremony. The process from start to finish resonated with me, in that the whole process was about the deceased and the bereaved. It was highly personal and celebrated the person’s life with dignity and a little humour. As I investigated and did some research, I began to see how it made sense of people close to me that I had lost and in doing so went some way to assuage some of my own fears.

I also offer advice and support to those that would like to plan a funeral, maybe their own or for another. I am committed to informing people that the choices they have, are limited by their own imagination.

Other things about me are - I love being outdoors, whether camping, running long distances or just going for a long walk. I have taken part in several long-distance running events and hope to continue doing so. Books are important to me, and I am always reading and studying languages and have travelled extensively around the world.

I am a professional member of the International College of Professional Celebrants, and have recently completed the NOCN accredited Level 3 Certificate in Civil Celebrancy, which covers Funerals, Weddings, Vow Renewals, and Naming ceremonies.
